Tropical Countries and their Tropical Beauties

When I said, living in Makati is quite sad especially if you’re alone, I didn’t think someone up there will heed the hidden wish in that statement. After all, I am just some alien who rents in Makati, but I guess luck’s on my side.

I was just walking my dog at some park near my place. It’s a weekend so there are perhaps four people with pets on leash that day. Aside from them, there are also grandmas with their grandchildren and hot moms with their newborns. But what really caught my eye is a tanned lady on a bike coming closer. I was slightly perturbed by this figure as I have not seen such perfect tan before in my life. Unfortunately or perhaps fortunately, while I was keeping an eye on this presence I tripped over my dog which walked in front of me without me noticing. I fell over my dog, and the bike that seemed far earlier came closer. Unprepared, the biker failed to hit the brakes but not me. She fell right onto me.

I know it was some kind of foolish drama but it really turned out that way. As apologies for each other, we decided to have lunch together. From what I gathered she’s an executive assistant of a boss of some big local company. She used to live in a place they call Malabon with her parents but because she was always on call at her job, she decided to rent in Makati. She said her condo is along Buendia or Gil Puyat. I have not much of an idea where that is but I probably would check it out sometime. Hehe!

My Makati, So Far

Makati is like Angkor, it is a complex of buildings. Some structures are commercial and others are residential. But, even with the numerous residential buildings, finding a place to rent in Makati is still a tough job. In my case, it would not have been no-sweat without the help of a few friends. It began as a hard feat now, it still is an adventure.

To rent an apartment in Makati is like moving in a different world. This is not only because I am a foreigner but also because the task is both hard and easy. It is easy in some aspect and very difficult when it comes to other parts. For me, looking for the perfect place had been easy but actually living in it took some effort and time. There had been gazillions of adjustments.

The first adjustment was learning the ways of the Makati roads. When not in use, which is roughly just one day in a week, my car silently sleeps in the garage of my apartment building. If otherwise, it is on one of the many crossroads of the city, purring but not moving. This is sad. I have experiences of heavy traffic but not as what Makati has, especially during rush hour.

A second adjustment is finding my way around. What I mean is looking for the stores where I can buy the things I need. This had not been as bad as adapting to the city’s traffic. Finding what I need is in fact the easiest of all the adjustments. There are a lot of malls in Makati and the shops are familiar to me. Thus, I found my way around quickly.

The third adjustment, which is still in the process right now, is mingling with the people. Although most people can speak English, there are still some who cannot understand. Others know how to speak but they say my accent’s weird. I am still trying to learn the language as of the moment.

As may be seen, living in Makati or perhaps in any place in the world is a struggle especially to new comers. But, endeavoring to get through all the hardships does not only bring stress. At the end of the day, you will see that the efforts are all worth it.

Alien in Makati

Apartments in Makati are wonderful places to live in. Based on my experience. As an American entrepreneur, I thought I would have a hard time adjusting. I only got a handful friends, most of them business associates. Good thing But my place made me feel right at home regardless of the tropical weather.

Some upstairs unit in a structure, the rooms of my apartment are very cozy along with grand views. During the morning, I get to drink my coffee at the loft and during the night, I can see the lights from the skyscrapers slowly faint away. All thanks to a friend who owns an apartment for rent Manila.

Gradually I got accustomed to living in the Philippines’ business district. The amount of my friends in the country has went up. Some I met at work, most I met in the parties I go to at night for stress relief. From a lonely newcomer, I have transformed into a popular alien who rents an apartment in Makati.
